We first met Madeleine in July where her mom and dad, Cathy and Kyle, were attendants at Rick and Sarah's wedding. At that time, she was rockin' the party in the cozy comforts of mum's tummy... Cathy was only around 6 months pregnant then!
When Cathy asked us to do Madeleine's newborn portraits a few weeks ago, we told her we've never done them before other than some shots of our own precious one, Mikka. We are glad that she trusted us anyway and we hope we captured the beauty, joy and love of this new family.
On to the photos... everyone, meet Madeleine...
At 3 and a half weeks, she's pretty strong holding her head up to face the camera!
Some itty-bitty body part shots.

And where does this beautiful baby get her good looks? From such loving parents who just adore her!
Yummy mummy Cathy
Cool dad Kyle
Kisses all around...

Madeleine showing some personality. Are we done yet?
We know which game dad will be taking her to...
She was really good the whole time. After all the manhandling, she was pretty pooped!

Welcome, Madeleine! We hope to see you again, soon!

Dwight + Louisa *Just Married*
It has been awhile since our last wedding and we were excited to get back on the horse again to shoot Dwight and Louisa's November 17 wedding. Weather wasn't so great with 90% chance of rain and true enough, by the time we got to the church, it was coming down hard.
The day started out dry when we headed out to Louisa's parent's house to get shots of her dress and shoes. Check out the beading on the dress.

Then it was off to their apartment to get some prep shots of the girls. The room smelled of hairspray and make-up powder floated in the air as the hair and make-up artists wielded their brushes at 11:30am.

The groom
The cute flower girls looking down the aisle
And Dwight and Louisa walking down the aisle as husband and wife
Bride and dad sharing a tender moment...
We had walked through great shots we planned at Queen's Park during a gorgeous Saturday the week before which all went out the window, onto the wet and muddy pavement. Nevertheless, we still managed to grab yummy shots without leaving the church.
The gorgeous bride...
Louisa's look was of old Hollywood glamour... love those red, red, red lips!!!

We'll reserve some more of the yummy photos for the couple to enjoy...
Then it was off to some partying at Roma Hall. The next shot was during a game where the question was "who wears the pants in the house?" Methinks the answer was pretty obvious. :)
This is a shot of Louisa and Dwight's dad who just got out of the hospital. Everybody was grateful that he was able to witness and join in on the celebration.
Gotta get that garter!
Guess who got the bouquet and the garter?
Dwight and Louisa, you guys are some of the sweetest people we know. Thanks for trusting us with your event. We hope Dwight didn't burn holes in his shoes dancing the night away!!

Happy Birthday, Rich!
Just wanted to give a shout out to our friend, Rich. Just a few snaps from his (almost) surprise party last weekend.
Yummy fondant cake from the great Keiko.

Keiko's little one, Garina, was still in Halloween mood and came as a little fairy.
Rich and Jocelyn stayed in Dallas, Texas for a few years before settling in lovely Vancouver. How many ways can you say Dallas sports fan?

Happy birthday, Rich! And thanks to Jocelyn for inviting us to celebrate and enjoy your new home!

NBA back in Vancouver
... only for an exhibition game. Living in an NBA-deprived city, it was good enough for me and luckily, the Phoenix Suns was playing. So, got my tickets from Ticketmaster (which was highway robbery for all the fees I had to pay!) and met Manuel and friends at GM Place that Friday night. Of course, I couldn't leave my camera at home so I brought it with me not knowing that NBA policy does not allow SLR cameras during the game. I had no choice but to leave it at the security the entire time!
I still went on to enjoy a game that I love... Steve Nash was really awesome even during the pre-game shoot around. The game was pretty good considering that it is not part of the official NBA season. Everybody was pumped up and couldn't get enough of Nash. While he was sitting out in the fourth quarter, fans wouldn't quit doing the "waves" for almost 10 minutes asking Nash to re-enter the game.
Good thing Manuel asked me to leave early so I rushed out and got my camera in time to snap some photos before the players headed for the dug out.
And who is that donning the Suns jersey????

For those who do not know, I'm a huge Grant Hill fan! After college, I started collecting his NBA cards and still have some of them right now. I'm thrilled that I was still able to see him play live despite the injuries he's had.

Hopefully, this is the year that the Suns will go all the way! Go SUNS!!!
- Rico
Disclaimer: Rico's NBA team is wherever Grant Hill is. Can't believe how the Suns are sucking right now... Lemme see, what's different with the team now???? Hmmm.....
